THE NORVEGIAN PUREBRED
Gatto lince? Gatto "folletto"? Il Norvegese
Lynx cat? Elf cat? The Norwegian is a special cat that from the very first moment charms you with his look so particular that gave him a magical and elegant but at the same time wild walk. The Norwegian, also called Norwegian Forest cat and Skogkatt, is a big cat, with half-long coat and his main characteristics are probably the result of a natural selection operated by the Norwegian weather.
Of strong body, he has long paws that avoid his body to be too close to the snow and the cold.

The back paws are higher of the front paws, this gave him an advantage in run and jumps. His origins are lost in time but it is in the thirties that this purebred begins to be known and appreciated in the rest of Europe. The first lineage were created starting from the best subject and in 1972 the breed was recognized by feline organizations and a standard was edit. Finally the International Feline Federation recognized him in 1977.

BODILY CHARACTERISTICS
He has a triangular head, with a straight profile, this gave him a sweet and enigmatic aspect.
His half-long coat is waterproof with a thick under-coat that protects him from cold and from snow humidity.
His coat may have all the colour given by nature even if blue and white colour gave him a more sophisticated and noble aspect while brown tabby, striped,
blotched with or without white is the more appreciated colour of the lovers.
In fact this colour is perfect for these bush cats. Moreover the striped ones have this brown or cream maquillage around the eyes particular seductive.
The tail has to be thick and long at least till the shoulder blade, ears have to be long and pointed, better if with plumage inside and plume outside,
with the tip of the nose they have to draw a triangle.

The eyes are round-shaped till the age of 6, 12 months, then when the head starts to have shape, the eyes took and almond shape. The body have his final shape around the age of 2.
